Amy Field, Pastoral Assistant for Children’s Faith Formation
Children’s Faith Formation at Sacred Heart Parish provides opportunities for children to participate in the life of the parish through education, formation and community activities. We partner with parents in the faith development, religious education and sacramental preparation of their children and are a source of support to parish families.
Faith Formation for Children Grades 1 & 2
The Archdiocese of Seattle requires two years of formation to receive the Sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion. Typically, this two-year program starts in Grade 1 and finishes in Grade 2. If your child is currently in Grade 1, please let us know. We will be forming a First-Grade class who will receive instruction at home throughout this year. Registration will begin soon.
Grade 2 children will have their second year of Faith Formation as well as preparation for the Sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion. We will be forming the Second-Grade Faith Formation class and a class to prepare for the reception of sacraments this year. Registration will begin soon.
Rite of Christian Initiation for Children (RCIC)
Children who are at least 7 years of age (the typical age of reason) and who are not baptized yet need to go through this process. Classes for this group will start in October. Please let me know if you have a child who is at least 7 and is interested in being baptized.
Grades 3-5 Faith Formation
Parents who have children in Grades 3-5, you are not forgotten! Once we have classes up and running for children preparing for sacraments we will have a class for you also. Stay tuned for more to come!
