Pre-Kindergarten

Sacred Heart School Pre-kindergarten program will be available beginning in the fall of 2010, and go for the duration of the regular school year.  Classes will be academic in focus with the intention of preparing the students for a successful kindergarten experience.

At the completion of the Pre-kindergarten year, students wishing to enter the school’s kindergarten program will need to participate in the regular kindergarten readiness assessment at the school.

Hours

  • Pre-K children will start school at the regular time 8:30 and will be at SHS until 11:30 Monday – Friday.
  • There will be a short outdoor (weather permitting!) recess at 9:45, with a snack provided by the parent.
  • There will be an optional opportunity to stay for lunch from 11:30 to noon, in the classroom (not the cafeteria).  There will be a cost for this per day.
  • The children must bring their own snacks and lunch, though we will be talking with Blue Plate about the possibility of providing some lunch service for that group.

Class Size

  • The first class will be limited to 16 students with a ratio of 1:8 (professional pre-school teacher and an aide).  Should there be more interest we will look at either an afternoon session (must have at least 8 more children) or adding another aide to the morning session.

Uniform

  • Rather than “uniforms” as such we are considering a Dress Code for the Pre-School.
  • No logos on T-shirts or polos
  • No PJ’s or sweats -regular pants must be worn
  • One day/week a t-shirt with the school logo on it

Financials

  • $350 per month for 10 months
  • There is a tax advantage for Pre-K so we will default to a separate FACTS auto-payment account for most families.
  • Regular registration fees will apply…$100 for returning families and $200 for new families (returning families with children already at SHS will just pay this once with their regular registration).
  • Fundraising and Service jobs will be the same for Pre-K parents as for families with children at SHS.  It will still be a “per family” requirement….there will not be extra requirements added to families with children already in school.

Additional Notes:

  • The Infosnap registration process  will not give you a payment option for Pre-K.
  • Please check one child (or two children) on the tuition form to proceed.
  • Pre-K tuition will be $350/mo for 10 months totaling $3500 for the year.
  • Pre-K children will need to be registered separately with FACTS because much of this tuition is tax deductible whereas regular school tuition is not.
  • Payment schedules and totals will be set up from within FACTS, not via Infosnap.
  • Pre-K registrants will need to pay the one-time annual registration fee: $230 for new families or $130 for returning families.  (If you have another child at SHS, you only pay this fee once).
