Annual Vision & Hearing Screenings Scheduled for October 17-19th
Washington State requires schools to conduct annual vision & hearing screenings for all students in grades K-3, 5 & 7. Our screenings are scheduled for the mornings of October 17-19th.
If your child is in one of the grades scheduled for screenings and you do not want your child to participate, you may opt out for all or part of the screenings. Please an email to Anne Marie Thompson with your child’s name, homeroom and if you wish to opt out of vision and/or hearing. The e-mail request must be received by the morning of Thursday, October 12th.
Students in grades Pre-K, 4, 6 or 8th are not scheduled to participate in this year’s screenings. If you have concerns about their vision and/or hearing, you may send Ann Marie an email with your concerns and request that your child be included in the one or both screenings.
Any child who does not meet the WA State acceptable screening standards will be automatically re-screened within 2 weeks for vision and within 6 weeks for hearing. If after re-screening, any results still have not met the acceptable standards—then parents will receive an email with these specific results. Normal results will not result in any parent notification.

If you have any questions about the health screening, please e-mail Ann Marie Thompson
Message from Brianna Bennitt:
HELP! We are in need of Parent Volunteers to help with Sacred Heart’s Hearing & Vision Screenings, happening on Tuesday October 17th, Wednesday October 18th and Thursday 19th. Without parent volunteers, we CANNOT perform these important State-mandated screenings. These screenings are super easy to perform so don’t be afraid to volunteer!
Please look at the schedule below and let me know which date and time you are available to help and if you can sign up for multiple shifts that would be even better! You can email Brianna with your selection or with any questions you may have.
Please come to the training session on Monday, Oct 16th at 2:15 in the PK classroom. If you are unable to attend the training, please be sure to arrive 20 minutes prior to the start of your volunteer shift so the screening process can be reviewed with you.
For all trained volunteers, please arrive to the health room at least 10 minutes before your shift starts so we can have you in place to promptly for the start of the screenings, for example, if the screening time starts at 8:50am, please arrive by 8:40am and meet in the health room.
You may sign up directly here: Sign Up Genius.
Thank you so much and we look forward to seeing you all on screening day!
