What is Playmakers?

Sacred Heart Playmakers is an after school drama program offered to students in first through eighth grade.  Anyone who auditions gets a part in the annual production. The young actors will experience various disciplines of performing arts including music, dance and acting, as well as the technical aspects of theater arts.  The program provides an excellent environment for learning about teamwork and strengthening self confidence.

Auditions occur in January and practices for the Main Cast, grades 3-8, are directly after school a minimum of 2 times a week.  The week before performances may require 3 weekday rehearsals.

The Little Players, grades 1 and 2, learn a song and dance number to be performed during the first half of the show allowing them the option to be excused at intermission or to sit in the audience and watch the second half of the show.  Rehearsals with an instructor are once a week. Their practices are developmentally appropriate and usually run under an hour.  The week before performances may require 1 Saturday afternoon and 3 weekday rehearsals.

Performances are on a Friday, Saturday and Sunday for one weekend on the gym stage at Sacred Heart School.

Every parent of a PLAYMAKER is expected to work behind the scenes volunteering for a minimum of two jobs.  Volunteer jobs include chaperoning practices, helping with ticket sales, concessions, set up and clean up.  Every PLAYMAKER production is truly a community event!
