Annual Catholic Appeal 2017

What is the Annual Catholic Appeal?
The Annual Catholic Appeal is our chance to participate in the ministry of the “wider Church” in Western Washington—the Archdiocese of Seattle. The Archdiocese serves 19 counties covering 25,000 square miles, ministering to over 600,000 registered Catholics in 175 parishes and missions. With our pledge to the Annual Catholic Appeal, we help fund over 60 programs and services of the Archdiocese. We work together as a larger Church to accomplish what we cannot do alone as a single parish.

What does the Annual Catholic Appeal mean for Sacred Heart Parish?
This year, our parish goal for the Annual Catholic Appeal is $211,000. We’d like to raise an additional $30,000 over that goal for our new Capital Maintenance and Improvement Budget. History has shown that we usually exceed our goal by an average of $30,000 (over the last ten years) with the overage returning to Sacred Heart in the form of a rebate. We’ve used that rebate to accomplish a number of facility improvements over the years.

How do I/we participate?
You will receive a mailing from Archbishop Sartain containing a letter, brochure, pledge envelope and return envelope. You will also receive a mailing from Fr. Steve with his letter, another pledge envelope and a return envelope.

Please follow these steps:
Complete one of the pledge envelopes and mail it back right away, either to the archdiocese in their return envelope or to the parish in our return envelope.
Or bring your completed pledge envelope to Mass on one of three Commitment Sundays—May 7 or May 14 or May 21.
Or make a pledge on-line.
No matter how you pledge, be sure to indicate that your gift is for Sacred Heart, Bellevue.
And don’t forget, your pledge can be paid over a ten month period by cash, check, EFT, debit/credit card, or stock.

What will happen over the next three weekends?
On May 6 -7, Archdiocesan seminarian, Ben Bray, will speak at all Masses about this year’s appeal and ask for your pledge.
–On May 13-14, our pastor, Fr. Steve, will speak at all Masses, giving his insights on the appeal and inviting your participation.
–On May 20-21, our Pastoral Assistant for Administration, John Meyer, will report on how we’re using our appeal rebate to improve our parish and school campus.

How much should I/we give?
Last year at Sacred Heart, 403 parish households pledged an average of $571 to the Annual Catholic Appeal. Our goal this year is to increase the number of parish households that pledge to the appeal. If you have not pledged before, this is the year to start, and we would encourage an initial gift of at least $365 or $1 a day for the ministries of the Catholic Church in Western Washington. However, every pledge, big or small, is gratefully received, deeply appreciated, and vital if we are to make our goal. The important thing is that every household participate. Your gift makes everything possible.
